The Person Behind SJ Windows
Hi, I'm Sam.
When you get in touch with SJ Windows, you deal directly with me from start to finish. That is a big part of how I want the business to feel: personal, reliable, and easy to deal with.
Before starting SJ Windows, I worked full time as a chef for 18 years. Like a lot of people, COVID changed everything for me and I lost my job.
In 2020, I got into window cleaning through my partner's dad, who is also a window cleaner, and that is where it all began. What started as a new direction has grown into a business I genuinely care about.
I take pride in doing a reliable, honest job and giving people a service they feel comfortable using again and again. There is no big company, no call centre, and no passing jobs around. Just a local window cleaner who wants to do good work, charge fairly, and build long-term customers across Colchester and the surrounding areas.

Who I Work For
A lot of my regular customers just want someone they can trust to get on with it.
Some customers have a bungalow or terrace and just want somebody solid and reliable. Others have a larger detached or period house with more glass and trickier access. The common thread is that they want the windows cleaned well and the whole thing kept easy.
It tends to suit people who would rather have the job done well than spend time chasing the cheapest price every few weeks.
Smaller homes welcome
Flats, terraces, bungalows, and semis can all be priced through the calculator.
Bigger homes catered for
Detached, executive, and period homes with bifolds, skylights, and more glass are very much part of the work too.
Kept simple
Quoting, booking, and the clean itself all stay with one local point of contact.
What People Usually Want
The kind of service most people are after.
Most people are not looking for anything fancy. They just want someone who turns up, does a good job, and is easy to contact.
Easy communication
You can get in touch, explain what you need once, and take it from there.
Consistent results
Regular customers usually get the best results because the windows are kept on top of.
Fair pricing
The quote should make sense for the house you actually have, whether it is simple or more involved.
A better finish
The whole point is that the place looks cleaner and better looked after when I leave.

How Quotes Work
A simple quote process.
It mostly comes down to the amount of glass, the access, the condition, and whether you want regular work or a one-off visit.
1. Send the basics
Postcode, property type, rough window count, and whether it is regular work or a one-off.
2. Confirm the awkward bits
Skylights, bifolds, conservatories, rear access, delicate areas, or anything else that affects time.
3. Get a realistic figure
The aim is a proper quote based on the actual job, not a number pulled out of thin air.
The Jobs I Usually Take On
The work usually suits people who want reliability and a job done well.
Some people just want the lowest possible quote and that is fair enough. Most of my regular customers are looking for somebody dependable who will keep the place looking good over time.
That works just as well on smaller homes as it does on bigger ones, as long as the area makes sense and the job is suitable.
Regular work works well
Regular visits usually keep the windows looking better and make the whole thing easier.
One-offs still possible
If you just need a one-off clean, that can still be quoted.
Local area kept manageable
Keeping the route sensible helps me keep the service dependable.

A real mix, from flats and smaller houses right up to larger detached and period homes. It mostly comes down to the amount of glass, the access, and the time the job will take.
Many homes suit a 6-weekly cycle well. It keeps the place looking right without letting build-up get too far ahead, especially on bigger houses.
It depends on the amount of glass, the height, the access, and whether the property is on a regular round. The guide calculator above gives you a solid starting point.
Usually because the quote reflects the actual property, the access, and the time it will take to do the job properly. Some jobs are naturally quicker and cheaper than others.
